Bootcut and Flare Jeans Fashion

Posted by: Sasha Manuel In: Fashion| Shopping

Let’s welcome the Jeans-inspired season with a selection that showcases two of my favourite cut and style: bootcut and flare jeans.

Bootleg Jeans, Flare Jeans | Tops II Bottoms - Fashion, Style and Trends

Levi’s® 524™ Faded Skinny Flare Jeans - $40.00
Urban Pipeline® Bootcut Jeans - $36.00
SO® Flare Jeans - $40.00
Unionbay® Slim Bootcut Jeans - $36.00
Urban Pipeline® Bootcut Jeans - $36.00
SO® Flare Jeans - $40.00
Levi’s® Red Tab™ 517® Stretch Flare Jeans - $34.00
Unionbay® Slim Bootcut Jeans - $36.00
Lee® Relaxed Bootcut Jeans - $24.99
Mudd® Flare Jeans - $36.00

I esp love the 2 pairs from Levi’s! GAH.

I’ve managed to accumulate a great number of pairs over the years and I plan to add more. This is one piece of clothing that will never go out of fashion for me. I’m constantly working on looks with jeans playing an important part. I love how I can pull off outfits that still can be called fashionable without it ending up looking too calculated.

What sort of cut is your favourite? Any brand in particular that you favour over the rest?

Fall Fashion: Empowering Your Confidence

Posted by: Sasha Manuel In: Fashion

I know it’s been quite some time since you folks heard from me (close to a year, actually). But let me take this time to make up for lost time and share with you a couple of photos that simply took my breath away. There’s one thing that a photographer captures a model in a fabulous outfit and gorgeous setting but to create this wonderfully styled photographs — simply amazing.

Protect Your Assets: Recession Denim

Posted by: Sasha Manuel In: Fashion| Shopping

Now, if my legs will turn out looking like this then I’ll certainly be off to Bloomingdales in an instant. If I live near one, that is.

Tuxedo Jeans, Recession Denim | Tops II Bottoms - Fashion, Shopping, Street Style

Legs that go on forever. I think I’ve successfully made my point, image size plus placement and all. (Funny memory of an opening gambit recently used on me by some guy — a comment on my legs. Quick answer: I don’t think so, buddy. Heh. Pick-up fail.)

Anyway, Recession Denim launched its premier collection in the US in April 2009.

The collection features well-made, classic jean silhouettes that will never go out of style. The entire collection ranges in price from $85-$120, which is well below the current price for high-fashion denim.

Now available at over 50 top boutiques in the US and internationally, Recession Denim will be launching its fashion-forward second collection this Fall. Taking cues from Fall 2009 runway trends, the new collection features Motorcycle jeans, denim leggings, and the Gypsy line, which includes denim dresses and skirts.

Recession Denim will be hitting the floors of Bloomingdales next week and over 60 stores across the US.

Oddly enough, it’s been reported that Recession Denim is a denim company that seems to be doing extremely well in the present state of the economy. What irony.

Happy shopping, folks!

Anna Paquin on NYLON TV

Posted by: Sasha Manuel In: Fashion

What can I say? Sometimes, it’s fabulous to watch backstage scenes of photoshoots. I say, sometimes, cuz if it’s presented in this manner — quick and interesting — then it will never bore me.

Here’s True Blood’s Sookie Stackhouse, Anna Paquin, star of the NYLON September TV Issue.

Love the clothes, shoes, accessories. I want her shiny gold blazer and her T-strap shoes! LOVE the shiny things and her hair. This clip certainly gave me more ideas for a much needed mood board. I need to put together a look for an event I’ll be attending. Ah, well. Wish me luck.

I had to stop whatever I was doing when I came across this photo of Claire Danes over at Black Book Mag. It was for an interview.

Danes look composed of the following:

Bodysuit by American Apparel.
Leather Corset Belt by H & M.
Jacket and Shoes by Gucci.
Stockings by Wolford
Gloves by Topshop.

Man, she looks good and Hugh Dancy ought to be happy about that.

Charlize Theron on VOGUE September 2009 Cover

Posted by: Sasha Manuel In: Fashion

VOGUE September 2009 Cover - Charlize Theron | Tops II Bottoms - Fashion, Shopping, Street Style

VOGUE Covers are what dreams are made of. Okay, perhaps my apparent regard to Anna Wintour’s taste may have caused an over-statement but, heck, most of the covers I’ve seen so far has been exquisite. I especially love the one with Drew Barrymore, which I think was on the April 2005 issue. She (and the over-all effect of the cover) looked utterly divine.

Going back to present, we have the opportunity to check out the latest — before it hits the stands.

Admittedly, one of the faces that I truly find appealing belongs to Charlize Theron. And it’s reportedly on the cover of VOGUE September 2009 issue. Stunning, I should say.

Anna says ’40s is the Look, RED is the Colour, and Boots & Suits are Back. How’s that for some Fall Fashion Fun? It’s time to prep up for the onslaught of the latest Fall trends. Surely, this is one issue to look out for.

Woodstock at 40: Fusion of Music and Fashion

Posted by: Sasha Manuel In: Fashion

Woodstock at 40: Fields of Fashion | Tops II Bottoms - Fashion, Shopping, Street Style

I still wasn’t part of this world, much less the fashion industry, around the time of Woodstock but I’ve been made aware through books I’ve read and films I’ve seen. And what had appealed to me most was the attitude folks had taken on in terms of fashion but was equally fascinated with the music, however dated they seem.

But twas the fashion that lingered. I had envied the freedom for their choices have reflected their spirit. Yes, individual personal styles had soul and was untainted — free of labels; loyal to the richness of designs. Eclectic, bohemian, raw and very much alive. So, when news of the “institution” celebrating its 40th year reached me, I just had to pause and highlight it in support and minuscule effort to celebrate the momentous event with them.

Of Interviews, Talks and Fashion Blogging

Posted by: Sasha Manuel In: Announcement & News

With the publication of the latest interview I did, I can’t help but wonder if folks are still seeing fashion blogging as just a superficial, albeit geeky, past time.

I simply would like to share that my other blog, Style Manila, got a bit of airtime today. The feature appeared on Annalyn Jusay’s Blog-O-Rama column in nationally syndicated broad sheet, Manila Bulletin. You can check the online version. Style Manila is a Philippine fashion and beauty blog, which focuses more on local content, particularly centered around the world re-known Philippine metro Manila, with topics under fashion, beauty, shopping, Manila street fashion and most of the events that I’m able to cover.

I guess the bottom line behind the apparent curiosity across various forms of media is the idea of an ordinary person, perhaps sometimes lacking in publishing or journalistic experience, can actually make money out of the whole thing. The interest on the actual topics covered only comes second.

Other interviews just for 2009 (to date) are:

Online Racing, Ivy League Education, Fashion Tips and Net-tionary, QTube, QTV-11, 16 April 2009 (Related Style Manila Post: Style Manila on QTV 11’s QTube)

Fashion Blogging segment, Fit & Fab, QTV-11, 01 July 2009 (Related Style Manila Post: Anika Makes Her Debut on Style Manila)

Thanks to all the folks who took the time to do the interviews and features. I appreciate it. And if you folks get around to checking them out, do let me know what you think.

Incidentally, because of my experience in fashion blogging (but not limited to), I’ve been invited by the Junior Chamber International Makati Princess Urduja to talk about Online Publishing in a seminar that’s going to be held on Thursday, 13 August 2009 at the Ateneo Graduate School of Business. It’s open to the public so if you’re free and are planning to drop by, do let me know. Seminar starts at 1pm.

Fall Accessories: Camel, Sand and Tan

Posted by: Sasha Manuel In: Fashion| Shopping

Things are looking up in the accessory department — bags, in particular. Word has it that anything that’s close to the camel, sand, tan shade is the IT thing for them arm candies. Best if the material is leather, which only gets better with wear. Yes, in this case, older is definitely more appealing — properly aged, of course. Hehe.

To give you folks an idea, here are two gorgeous pieces that I wouldn’t mind owning:
