A Look into Japanese Street Fashion
I’ve been so fascinated with Japanese Street Fashion. It so bold, vibrant and dynamic. It’s only been a while since I took notice of this fashion from that part of the world but I’ve been curious eversince. I just want to give you guys a glimpse of what it really is.
What I’ve noticed about it is the detail of each outfit. Some have said that it’s just several clothes crazily put together or it’s a look that makes the wearer look stupid. However, if you look at their fashion concept more closely, it’s carefully thought-out and heavily inspired by what’s trendy while freely expressing individualism. Most people are just so used to European fashion or that the color of the shoes and the bag should match. But in this fashion concept, those things are not important. It’s the color, the material, the print and the details. The individual carefully picks out the shoes, the socks, the bag, the accessories and even the haircolor and hairstyle that will complete the look. Each component of the outfit matters.
They have classified fashion concepts into areas in Japan: Shibuya, Ginza, Omotesando, Daikanyama, Ura-Harajuku, Minami-Aoyama, Marunouchi, Naka-Meguro. They say that these areas show the success of a collection introduced and also it can predict trends.
There are several well-known designers and labels in Japan such as: Issey Miyake, Kyoko Higa, Yohji Yamamoto, Beams, Journal Standard, Eddie Bauer, Takashimaya, Seibu, Parco, Muji Rushi, Rosebud, Sumikin Bussan, Itochu, etc. I’ve learned that the fashionistas in Japan are known to take several pieces from designers or labels and mix them into an outfit. They even throw in items from Dior, YSL or Dolce and Gabbana. Not everything in their wardrobe are local.

Japanese Street Fashion is a definite challenge for fashionistas out there. It requires confidence, good fashion sense and a keen eye for detail.
