Mince Pouf Miniskirt

by Sasha Manuel on February 17th, 2006

poufI’m going Japanese! That statement is a rip-off from a song. Don’t ask me what song, I don’t have an idea. Anyway, I saw this particular style in one of the junk mail we got here at home. The model was wearing a skirt quite similar to this item. It made me think that it seems that either the west is adapting to the east or it’s vice versa. What do you think?

It’s a very interesting piece, I reckon. The way it’s designed is that it has a balloon hem with multi-pleats. The one in the photo is in Khaki with a black elasticised waistband and hem. It’s going to be challenging to wear it. The one I saw in the junk mail was in pure black so I reckon, that one would be easier to wear. I also noticed the way this particular item was being marketed here, it’s a little more conservative. It was mixed with dress flats, a tuxedo shirt and a victorian-inspired fitted jacket. It’s not as funky as would a Japanese street fashionista would use it. It just illustrated how different western influence and eastern influence are, well — not that I’m categorising it. It’s just a personal observation. Who knows? Perhaps we can see these two merge in the future. I wonder how that would look like.

This item is available at ONATOKO.
