Traveling Fashionista

by Sasha Manuel on April 21st, 2006

I love traveling. I love airplanes. I love the views from the plane window. That is, if I get the window seat. Heh.

Though seriously, traveling is a great highlight of my life. I’m utterly grateful for all the opportunities I’ve come across, which whisks me off on a plane. I simply love it!

Which brings me to think about clothes. Okay. Okay. Before any scratching of the head occurs, allow me to expound. I’d like to ask the following questions: What do you normally wear if you’re going on a trip? Do you go casual? A little formal? Or just plain “anything goes”?

See, I do have a point right? Hahaha.

My personal style when it comes to traveling, i.e. trip which involves a little plane travel, I opt for a casual chic look. I’m thinking — a pair of bootleg jeans, a couple of layers of cami and a jacket, just in case I do get cold in the plane. And of course, I’d wear stilletos.

I know some people may find it a little uncomfortable but this outfit is as comfortable for me as some would wear a shirt, track pants and a pair of trainers! Hahaha. It’s all good.

Oh, yea — I am boarding a plane today, heading for Singapore, where I’ll be lurking around for a good 16 hours before I’m off again on a plane that’s heading to Manila, which will be — uh, tomorrow.

Bon voyage to me!

I never travel in jeans. They are usually to binding if sitting for any length of time.

When I’m not wearing my flight attendant uniform, I choose something totally different to travel in.

I prefer wearing a loose fitting long skirt or dress (out of a non-wrinkling fabric), lots of layers (I get cold easily), and comfortable flat shoes. Although this is not my “normal” attire, I do have a couple of these travel outfits.

Then, when I arrive at my destination, I’m not all wrinkled and messy looking, my feet aren’t swollen and uncomfortable from the changes in cabin pressure, and I can get to my hotel room, shower, and put on my real clothes (which would be tight jeans and stilletos).

Thanks for sharing that, Mary Jo. :)

It’s a great tip for people who travel.
