Tops 2 Bottoms

Inspired by a Japanese Parasol

by Sasha Manuel on July 12th, 2006

A couple of days ago, I was waiting for the light to change at an intersection when my eyes darted towards the pedestrians walking on the right. There was a man [yes, a man] walking with an umbrella that reminded me of a Japanese Parasol. Huh. It was a quaint sight.

What is a Japanese Parasol? Well, basically they’re Japanese-style umbrellas that looks similar to the cocktail umbrellas. But yea, it looks different from your regular modern ones.

Okay. I’m no geisha but I reckon owning and using one isn’t a bad idea, right?
I’m trying to think what outfits I can come up with if I am to let myself be inspired by the parasol.

Hmmm.

I’m thinking… outfits that involve wool or linen will definitely work or something streamlined to create an illusion of formality. So earth hues will work best and turtlenecks quickly comes to mind. Leather shoes, boots, pumps and perhaps sandals can work but it depends on the rest of the outfit. But I’m also thinking that a simple dress and flats will work.

What do you guys think?
