Outfit of the Week: The Belted Sweater

From the muted green hue to the sleek wool pants, I’m voting this outfit as one of the great looks to go for this season. It’s quiet chic-ness eminates a natural feeling, seemingly blends well to the autumn surroundings. It just looks ethereal.
The Belted Long Sweater is matched with the Herringbone Pants to create this country-slash-urban look. Both are from Etro, found in Bloomingdale.
The whole point of going for the belted look is the emphasis on the waist area. Although, it may prove to be disadvantageous for some, it’s still a statement you can achieve with slight work-arounds.
For the plus-size or, what I’d like to call, voluptuous women, wearing full skirts or wide pants will help create an illusion of a narrower waistline or an ever-so-slightly wider belt [than what’s usual anyway] that can act as a corset of some kind, hence, tucking the tummy in.
For the skinny or shape-challenged women, the tips mentioned can work for you guys, too. You can add a little padding here and there to create “mass” in areas lacking of, er, shape. And I’d suggest that you focus on either the top or bottom area, i.e. wear the belted long sweater with tapered pants is an option, not both.
Another thing, I suggest that you make sure you wear colours that will complement your size. It will help you maximise this look.
