Exploring Ruched, Belts & Floral Accents

by Sasha Manuel on April 24th, 2007

white ruched off-shoulder empire blouse with aquamarine floral and belt accentsThat’s right. I am currently exploring ruched, belts and floral accents. If you’ve noticed, in my latest shopping binges (part one and part two), I happened to accumulate a number of items with the aforementioned accents.

The one I’m wearing in the photo is the white ruched off shoulder empire blouse with aquamarine floral and belt accents I bought in the recent splurge. Using it as an example of the kind of designs I’m exploring this season. The light fabric and soft summer look that the floral accents give help make an outfit look brighter and somewhat fun and sunny.

Accessorising my outfits with a belt (either they come with it or I style it in) help create some texture to a decided look. Isn’t that what accessories are for? Hehe. Anyway, it’s a great way to accentuate the waist or to create shape for your look.

Choosing ruched tops or bottoms is a great alternative to the usual elasticised form of holding something up or on a certain position. Once again, it creates texture to the item you’re wearing and variety to the look you’re going for. It has that casual feel and it’s, somewhat, sexy since it hugs or form fits a portion of your body.

How about you guys? You trying anything new this season?
