Tops 2 Bottoms

Off to Vietnam and Cambodia

by Sasha Manuel on February 26th, 2008

By the time you guys read this, I’ll probably be thousands of miles above the ground aboard Philippine Airlines heading to Ho Chi Minh City (Saigon) in Vietnam for a week-long vacation and photography.

I’ve been busy the past few days finalising plans, doing last minute shopping PLUS work and, yea, packing. The last bit sorta’ got me stumped. I found out that there are a lot of limitations in terms of what you can and cannot wear esp if you’re planning on visiting the temples.

Let me give you some bits to illustrate:

  • Wear footwear that can be easily taken off since they will require you to do so before you enter any of the temples
  • Also, regarding the footwear, make sure you pack ones you can easily walk in so I’m scrapping my “stiletto” outfits, LOL
  • You can’t wear skimpy clothing, i.e. short skirts, skimpy tops, strapless, etc (I think you get the picture)
  • Pack lightweight, cotton garments since the country is warm and humid BUT it can get chilly and wet, so, it is best to check the country’s weather schedule
  • Since my friends and I are traveling “backpacker-style” (er, sort of) I need to make sure I can carry my own weight not to mention I’ll be lugging around my camera equipment.

We’ll be traveling to Cambodia, Phnom Penh then to Siem Reap, specifically for Angkor Wat in the middle of the week. This means hours on the road (and re-packing), hence, the need to bring really comfortable clothes.

Anyway, I am excited. I simply love traveling, esp the opportunity to stretch my photography skills. We’re looking into doing a mini-fashion ed of some sort so I that pushes through, you guys will definitely be seeing a few photos.

I’ll still be around though. Can’t really expect too much posts this week but I will give it one hell of a try (I’ve already prepared a few) — I’m not sure just how connected I’ll be while I’m on the road, you see.

You’ll hear more from me when I get back! Wish me a safe trip!
