T2B Shopping: Scarves

by Sasha Manuel on March 11th, 2008

ScarvesThese scarves — gifts for friends — are some of the things I bought on my recent trip to Vietnam and Cambodia. I’m not 100% certain if these are made in their respective locals but I’m hoping they are. I tried to ask but there’s still that language barrier. Yea, not all can speak English well but the women I spoke to tried real hard. We couldn’t get past the price and “you buy, you buy” conversation. Good thing twas easy to haggle. Hehe. Just say “no, it’s too expensive”, shake your head for emphasis, then name a price you’re willing to pay. Yes, they’re quite used to price negotiations or haggling and is not considered rude. Here’s a tip, just be bold to cut the price in half, don’t hesitate. I got a few of these scarves at half the original price by doing just that. LOL.

The scarves ranges from $1.50 to $4.00. First two on the left were bought in Ho Chi Minh City (Saigon), Vietnam and the last three ones were bought in Siem Reap, Cambodia.
