MANGO, Ho Chi Minh City, Vietnam

A bit late but I was just reminded of how different my shopping experience in Vietnam was, compared to the other countries I’ve been to. This photo was taken as I was coming out of a MANGO store in Ho Chi Minh City (Saigon), Vietnam. That’s how it looks like from the outside, complete with parked motorbikes. The store has a second level.
The difference lies in shop locations. In other countries, most shops are located in one area, either in a mall or an entire stretch of a street. In Ho Chi Minh, while they do have malls, most shops are scattered all around the metro. You’ll notice that a street is a “shopping street” and popular at that if the stores that are situated there are global-slash-commercialised brands. I guess what made it a little inconvenient is the fact that I’m a tourist, totally unfamiliar with how addresses work and just thinking that I have to trek every street in search of a brand or simply to thoroughly window shop for options will render me spent and uninspired.
I know Yellow is hot right now but seeing it painted on the walls like that gives me goose flesh (the bad kind). I have to add that I was disappointed with the MNG Vietnam stock. I still can’t wrap my head around the city’s style preference. AND this is Mango I’m talking about! I reckon the merchandisers should do a bit of homework. Sigh.
Btw, in case you’re wondering, I’m the one with sunnies on and lugging that big camera around. Hehe.

what ever “mango” is irrelevent!!!!
surely, you can find something more important and interesting to do in a foreign country, esp one as interesting as Viet Nam, than damn shopping!!! i know, to each his/her own, but what a waste of airfare.
and in case you didnt know, since you were too interested in shopping, yellow and red are significant colors in vietnam. do a bit of research.

Yea, and if you did a bit of research of your own. I did more than just shopping in Vietnam. However, since this is my fashion blog, I just thought I’d highlight what’s relevant here.
Thanks for your thoughts, though. :)

It doesn’t matter! Readers like wright must have what they want! Give it to him! Give it!
In any case, your pic also makes it clear that Vietnamese love their motorcycles!

Turn my fashion blog to a travel blog? Write about traveling to Vietnam from “Tops 2 Bottoms”? I just might move the blog to a different channel then. Hehe.
Yea, Phoebe did a great job capturing that important aspect of the city. I’m glad I got to ride in one on my last night there. I dare you to spot every MNG outfit on them bikers while on the road! Oh, wait. Is that relevant, too? :-P
