Tops 2 Bottoms

The Red Tights Trend

by Sasha Manuel on April 18th, 2008

Agyness Deyn, Red tights | Tops 2 Bottoms, Street FashionUndoubtedly, Agyness Deyn is one of the most popular models in the industry to date. I do love her style, seemingly boyish (must be the hair) look, and her very eclectic taste in clothes. I love how pulls of certain combinations that you wouldn’t normally think of putting together. Know what I mean? I love fashionistas who are bold enough to try a trend minus the “polished”, almost tacky styling. Seeing them strut their personal style on the streets paves a way for this trend to be more dynamic than what’s expected. The creativity seen on an un-studied outfit makes the look a whole lot more appealing.

Thus brings me to an up and coming trend — wearing red tights. Agyness was spotted sporting such, as seen on the photo.

The colour red is bold all on its own. And hosiery, a garment that’s originally made to blend in or at the very least should be in a very neutral shade, is now a piece accounted for in styling an outfit, seemingly viewed as like wearing a pair of socks. Putting these two elements together makes an interesting statement, don’t you agree? However, in the recent fashion week, we’ve witnessed it used by designers, hence, a trend was born.

Apart from the Dégradé Print that I told you guys about yesterday, I reckon this trend ought to be duly noted. So, will you be considering owning a pair of red tights this fall?

    Hello Hose Lover,

I have hosiery in all colors and shades, which I wear daily. I hate pantyhose, the kind from drugstores…but have fallen in love with European Hosiery that I was introduced to on my birthday by my hubby. These legs were made for showing off in pantyhose, eh?

No. I have no problem with the wearing of red tights, but it is a trend best left to those who don’t mind looking ugly. Or who are so cute that nothing they do could make them look ugly. ;)

Same goes for people who think they can pull off wearing skinny jeans. :)
