Philippine Fashion Week 2008 | GLIMPSES: A Dawn of a New Decade
Last night was the Opening Night, dubbed as “GLIMPSES: A Dawn of a New Decade”, of the 2008 Philippine Fashion Week. I was fortunate to have been able to attend and witness what the next seven (7) days will be like.
Will the next few days steer the local fashion scene towards a more original, world-class style fit to showcase to the rest of the world? Will the local fashion designers showcase creations that will prove to be at par with more known designers? Will the Philippine Fashion Week really showcase a truly distinct local fashion that can raise the mark of future designs as well?
The 11th Philippine Fashion Week promises a new decade of fashion and style that will uplift the image of Philippine fashion and the designers. With projects in the works, the organisers seek to calibrate on a global-scale and to break new grounds, calling out for patriotism in order to make everything successful.
As a Filipino, I do hope that our local fashion will be able to compete in the global fashion arena.
