I have to admit that I’m not really a huge fan of Jessica Simpson but her latest interview with Glamour was worth noting because of a little something she said:
“It’s not fair that women look in the mirror and feel disgust because of what society has made them believe about beauty. I’ve been through it myself and understand the pressures. We’re all facing the same struggles together, whether you’re a celebrity or not.” — Jessica Simpson, “I’m in a Great Place in My Life”, Glamour, August 2009
I was aware of all the lambasting that the media, both online and off, did to her during the time when she put on some weight post-Nick Lachey. I’m also aware of the horrid reviews of the movies she starred in. Heck, I can even say she’ll need a tonne of work on her acting skills (not to mention hire a different stylist for the movie — I mean, what’s up with the ultra red lips on a “hick” in NY?!) after seeing one of her movies, Blonde Ambition.
But going back to what she said, though it seems ironic that a glossy would print what she said since they’re guilty of being one of the influence-rs who feed the society of their definitions of beauty, it’s something we all should always remember. When you look at yourself in the mirror, tune out how the rest of the world defines beauty. Know that even Anna Wintour has her fair share of insecurities. Learn to love who you are and let beauty radiate from within.
Check her out as she graces the cover of GLAMOUR’s latest issue.

And be sure to read her interview where she spoke of relationships, body image, her divorce, the legacy she’d like to leave behind and her future plans.
Have a wonderful day, folks!
